The organ plays
while the children do the same
Forever calling my name
What have I become?
Just light, noise and
something wanting love
Little parker yellow
with pigtails and sun
Now it's all bare skin
and a hollow skull
To hold and quote Shakespeare*
The words make no sense
And everyone is a kalidoscope
moving away from me
And I squint in the sun
waiting for sand to fry
And wanting the world, that's calm
and simple again.
My hair hangs like two black curtians
drawn
stripped away
To show a skeleton
Of what I used to be
Every day someone walks
over my grave
To remind me I'm another girl
Smeared in dirt again.
Teen feet down
with the slab of human need
down my throat.
In the corner
a million shadows move
I cant make out
if they want me
to devour.
