In the descending silence of night
Glares stone blank textures
I could count the stars
but I only count three
It seems to be shining
For more than you and me
Caught up in this childish game
Of counting stars
Not alone but without you
Across the shore thunder breaks
Repitive and dim
My faraway love you dont seem real
And the water touches earth
Just like I touched you
Will I ever feel guilt
Of counting more stars than two
I found sand in my pocket
Which fell through my fingers
Slipping away through the night
with the wind
And when I held the sand
Up to the light
I could see a million stars shining brightly back at me
Too many lights burn my eyes
But here in the dark
Pressed againts sky, sand, earth
and him
I'm not alone
But I'm without you
Yet you shine as brightly
when there's no stars
he let me count the stars
did not luagh when I got muddled
and some disappeared
I started count all over again
Count the stars
with me
say you will
but under a sky much bluier
Because gray is not true
Like you
I could count the stars
If I wanted to
Wrap my head with some shiney paper
Say I'm a tiny star too
Say I'm so much better
I guess the stars aint much superior
They have dwelled in the damp iviting dark
The difference is they are all alone
And so far apart
Count the stars
with me
They have so much in common
Because glamour is not true
Look down at me
As I look right up
And
Count the stars
