ILL DO MY BEST

"BE A GOOD BOY WHILE MOM IS GONE TODAY".

"I'LL DO MY BEST", HER LITTLE BOY SAID.

WONDERING THE WHOLE TIME JUST HOW FAR HE COULD STRAY.

"BE CAREFUL TONIGHT WHEN YOU TAKE THE CAR SON".

WAS THE LAST THING A FATHER GOT TO SAY.

"I'LL DO MY BEST THESE COPS TO OUT RUN".

WAS THE LAST THING HE TOLD HIS FRIENDS.

"MAKE US PROUD" GRANDPARENTS TOLD A GRANDCHILD

AS SHE WENT OFF TO MAKE HER MARK ON THE WORLD.

"I'LL DO MY BEST", THINKING BUT I AM WILD.

"I'LL DO MY BEST" IS SOMETHING OFTEN SAID

DO WE REALLY MEAN IT AT THE TIME?

OR DO WE USE IT THINKING YOU WILL BE MISLED?

JUST STOP AND THINK ABOUT THIS..........

nice topic,Renee!and it is very true that "I'll do my best.."is a way to the door rather than an intention to be cared about ... Ali

Renee...well, "i'll do my best" is sometimes all we can do. i know i used it as a line, as well as my children and i am sure their children will too. Good read, makes me think i could have been a little more strict... deborah

Hi Renee Interesting poem indeed. I like the title, that is what caught my eye. I can picture my kids with this one.... as they say this to me time and time again. Sometimes they mean, sometimes they don't.... that's life I guess. Thanks for sharing yet another great poem. cya :) Roz

SMiles..... i hear this all the time in school..when kids come up to me and say "Mr Lee (or simply 'Cher..), dont worry, i'll do my best, relax...." And i will go, "Yah right, u better!" Some did try really really hard....well, others..they just said it in the mouth but silence in the heart. What a wonderful poem this is....portraying something that's so prevalent nowadays...the insincerity of words spoken.... Great read.~! Smilesz.

Good poem!! And yes, it gives much to think about. Is it just a saying, as would be "How are you?" when you pass someone on the street? Do we really mean it? Sometimes not, I would guess! Interesting poem no doubt!!!
