Cigarettes and You

I'm giving up cigarettes and I'm giving up you

And I'm only choosing to do one of the two

I will miss the grime on my teeth and the encompassing smoke

But, I will probably forever remember the smell of your soap

Now I can see all that I am leaving behind

While I stand and wait in this blurring airport line

I suppose its good, my lungs can rejoice, for they have found ease

But this pain in my chest tells me one internal organ is not very pleased

It's okay though, I no longer have to fear the end of that night

Because now that day, this day, has come with this mornings light

I'm giving up cigarettes and I'm giving up you

And now I do know I never wanted to loose one of the two
