New Year Rain
It started firstly with the clouds rolling in clusters
Causing darkness to overcome the daylight
The wind arrived in a frankly filthy mood
Causing a stir and havoc to the devoid earth.
Then the tide of the raging storm surged in
As the chipping birds and the anxious animals fled
Thirsty throats, for long deprived, cherished the moment
Amidst the water ruining the desolate earth.
It's the new year’s rain that has salvaged the earth
The panic is over and calm has been restored
The long months of agony are over
The baked soil is now ready for planting
And the animals are out in the field to graze.
