poem_226_Handkerchief

Letting her hanky fall to the floor

A boy retrieves through courting lore

He hands it back, her eyes explore

Both in hopes for something more

Oh what a handkerchief could do

It dabs your tears and waves adieu

With chivalry or love pursue

A handkerchief says I like you

So please accept this gift of mine

Silky threads and cloth so fine

And as time spent ripens our vine

We wait, at last, our lives combine

Very special and very strong

Like a true love forever long

In dreams that we’ll not go wrong

I want mine, for you, to belong
