Swept by medicated vision,
you rested next to me,
staring:
A downpour of eyes
on my streets.
Entangled in sheets
and rubbing feet
while smiles provided
liberation from the madness;
We went off
on lovers' tangents.
But the sedatives
wore off
and I coughed myself awake
to notice
the salty puddle of realization
decorating only one pillow.
