I'll be your overcoat -

Wrap you around

Trace your every move.

          A chameleon crying

          with you...



Honestly,

I love taking the breeze for you

And with chilled bones

I'd fall to knees for you

Asking only

You reach down

Raking angel fingers

Through my hair.

          A slice of heaven

          Staring up

          And knowing something's really there.



And I will leave familiar pools

To wade in oceans blue

Up to my neck

In all the cries I never knew.

And you'd best believe

I'd take the dive.





Synchronized gains and losses --

Water levels rise less

With two bodies to soak the rain -

A process

That has us trembling,

Holding each other's crosses -

And I find faith in you --

          I'll trade you my blood

          For your breath

          For the ways

          We give each other life.
