Dancing With The Stars- The Workout

If you like dancing, and are a fan of the show Dancing With The Stars - you may like the dancing workout the put out on DVD.  There are a few different ones out, and each one teaches a few different dances.  The one I have purchased teaches the Samba, the Cha Cha, the Paso Doble and my favorite the Jive.  I really like the Jive because it is a fun dance that incorporates some rock beats behind it. Follow the instructions from Ashly Costa Delgrosso, Kym Johnson, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.  The DVD includes the four dances, warm up and cool down, as well as a guide on how to eat better.

Hip Hop Abs

by Shaun T.

After many infomercials, I decided to order Hip Hop Abs.  The people on the commercial made it look like such a fun workout, and I could see that Shaun was a great motivator just from watching one night when I could not sleep.   To me, it is a great workout because I can really feel it -afterwards!

What is Hip Hop Abs exactly?  It is hip hop dancing, cardio, a bit of weight training, and a lot of fun.  You follow Shaun's three T's, which target more area's than even normal sit-ups ever would.  What are these three T's that I mention? Tilt, Tuck, and Tighten.  Shaun's famous motivational catch phrase would be, "Tilt, tuck, tighten, and breathe."  What you are supposed to do is tilt your shoulders over, tuck your hips under, and tighten your stomach/abs.   If you purchase the whole program, you will also get three take it to the dance floor workouts.  In these workouts you will learn a dance routine step by step, and then you dance it out.  When I say dance it out, I don't just mean  once or twice, you will go through it four times.  On top of the four times, Shaun makes you practice the whole routine a few times slow, as well as a few times fast.  HHA definitely is a great cardio workout if that is what you are looking for.

What are all the workouts in Hip Hop Abs?

Secrets To Flat Abs- here you will learn all the moves that are done in the other workouts.

Fat Burning Cardio - burns a lot of calories while doing a lot of fun moves

Ab Sculpt-  Includes a lot of fun moves focusing on the abs

Hips, Buns, and Thighs - workout for those problem areas, including fun ways to do those hated squats and lunges.

Five minute workout/dance - Learn some quick dance moves in five minutes, or get a short five minute workout in, combine the two for a ten minute workout!

Hip Hop Groove- Learn some cool moves, then take it do the dance floor!

Take It To The Dance Floor- Learn an easy but effective dance!

I am not sure if I believe in the great results you are supposed to find in doing Hip Hop Abs, however it is a great way to get moving and get to goal, so I would definitely recommend it.  Plus, it is a lot of fun, so you don't really feel like you are working out.

Taebo

by Billy Blanks.

I left Taebo last because it is by far my favorite workout out there.  I have done Taebo for years (not constantly but I have done it every so often for at least five years), I remember having a few of Billy's workouts on videotape.

What does Taebo stand for?

Total Awareness for Excellent Body Obedience.

All of the Taebo workouts are great and effective, but what I want to introduce is Taebo Amped.

Taebo Amped comes with an Amplifier bar, which is an amazing invention.  It's a bar that helps with coordination, and it also works as a three pound weight.  The bar will help you do all the punches correctly, and keep balance when you are kicking.  If you use the bar for a while, and then put it down and try to do a set of jabs, you'll see the difference.

What workouts does Taebo Amped include?

Jump-start Cardio- the easiest level of Taebo Amped, to get you introduced to the whole system.

Full Throttle - This workout is one of the hardest in my opinion, you'll find a lot of cardio in this workout when you get amped!

Fat Burn Accelerator - Another pretty hard one, but well worth it!

Core Express- This one focuses primarily on the core.

Live in LA - Another workout full of cardio, when Billy takes his workout in front of a huge crowd in Los Angeles, so you can see that any one can do Taebo.

Billy Blanks is an amazing instructor/mentor/motivator, sure he can't make you get up off the couch and do the workout, but if you decide to put in the effort he can definitely push you till the end.

You can find more information on Taebo Amped here.

Remember that no matter what kind of workout you do, results won't happen over night.  Billy Blanks has three T's as well, however they are not a technique, they are words to live by.  Trust, Truth, and Time.

Don't get discouraged, and thank you for reading!
