She is more alive than most you will meet

and you would never guess just a few months ago,

She was closer to death than anyone you ever saw

She has seen pain and torment beyond belief

She has lived it all, so real, deep, and raw

She has fought the demons,

Battled with the monster

She has the scars to prove the struggle

Now she speaks about her past

Letting others know there is hope

There is life beyond hidden scars under long sleeves,

Curious looks in warm weather

She has heard all the questions,

Answered all the why's, how's and where's

She is an open book,

because she wants to help people in her situation

she greets each day with a smile,

Instead of one of her old addictions

She is alive and awake,

and she will not rest until everyone else is
