We learned so much through each other

But we never learned how to mend

Never did we think we would lose our love

But we can't keep playing pretend



We thought our love was strong enough to survive

Thought we could make it through it all

To see our days have come and gone

We wish again for the fall



We look to the future with sorrowful eyes

We once held the world in our hands

All our dreams have turned into lies

and we lost all that we had planned



Our future was supposed to be full of promise and hope

But the flames of our love burnt out

When that happens how are we supposed to cope

Is losing what love is all about



We came together at our lowest point in life

The moment when we were both heading for the knife

We helped each other make it through the worst

You were my true love, the very first



and we learned so much together

but we never really learned how to mend

we thought our love would last forever

but we can't keep playing pretend
