You were always the whole sky to me

I was only a single star to you

You lit up and shined so brightly

I was lucky if I could light up for a minute or two



In the day, you were the sun

You were always the brigtest one

In the day, I was just a cloud

I'd float away whenever you weren't around



When the daylight turned into dark

You held on to the eternal spark

but for me,when the darkness came

All it brought was a little rain



Overnight when the stars would glow

Your brightness just seemed to grow

Overnight my shine would dim

and I never thought it would rebegin



Each new day your sky would brighten

and the stars would shine and continually lighten

but me being just one single star

I never seemed to get that far
