Quake

Everyday the fault lines

Of our self-image split

A little more;

Our hearts tremor

When shocked

By the reality of pain.

Sometimes life’s pressures

Prove to be too heavy;

Our thoughts shift

To bitterness and

Narrow-mindedness

And begin to crack.

Soon the fractures

Became irreparable;

The boundaries of

Trust and gullibility

Collide and create

Waves in our faith.

Inspired by: "It isn't the earthquake or the tsunami that devours the soul...it is the slight shaking and the soft showers that are unrelenting that slowly and methodically claim a life."
