A Free Gift

Biblical Inspiration We can never be perfect;
this is why
God gave us
a get-out-of-hell-free card.
All he asked for
is that we believe in Him,
and believe faith
is enough.
We are reluctant
to accept His terms,
because we’re used
to discovering a catch~
special conditions
not already stipulated,
the fine print on
the contract for eternity.
We know no good thing
is ever free, but
maybe that’s just what
society has taught us.
Perhaps the civilizations
before us
were not skeptical
of the deal.
They must have accepted
Him with open hands,
deciding that every
other “truth” should be questioned.
