I can provide a canopy
to protect you from rain
when your heart’s
become overcast.
Then without the force
of pain’s monsoon
pelting your solemn soul,
you can wade in puddles~
small reminders of all
you have overcome.
But my most functional use
is to be shelter from the sun
when the heat of joy
beats down on you,
filling you with warmth
but not enough to
cause fainting spells;
I shield you adequately
to still tan your skin
with a sunny countenance.
