Memories accumulate
Like gravel under my toes-
Some smooth rocks,
Others digging into my feet.
I stumbled on each of them,
Eager to burn on asphalt
For only a moment and ponder
On the past in fond retrospect.
The good thoughts blazed on,
While the negatives was doused
With extinguishers of hoping
They would become forgotten.
I wandered across lost memories
And clasped them to my chest
So they would carry me as
I continued on my journey.
