A rainbow followed me
on my drive to work,
and although I tried to
steer away from it,
it wouldn’t leave my sight.
It filled the sky of gray
with faint colors
as if draping itself
over the clouds.
The interesting thing
about rainbows is they
rarely appear in clear skies.
No, those gray, ominous
clouds shadow it as if
God doesn’t wait until
the storm is over to
blanket us with His promise.
God uses rainbows to
show us His love extends
as far as the distance
from one end of the
painted curve to the other.
And I knew if I trust Him,
even though I drove into the rain
unsure of the way out,
He would be there with
His arch of hope to show me
the way through the storm.
