I threw the first stone
Hoping it would not
Be judged out of bounds
But found a successful toss.
I hopped on one foot
And tried to skip over
This square of failure
But fell into it regardless.
The chalk lines were
Blurred as those
More competitive than I
Hoped for my loss.
I’ve been so fearful
I’ll miss an opportunity
Or lose my balance
And forfeit my turn at life.
I was never good
At this game.
