Accumulation of strength
through each obstacle
placed in my path-
preparation for
another uphill climb.
Small molehills once tripped on,
now jumped over
making the mountain
more scalable in my eyes~
training for the highest peak.
Gazing at the top,
remaining focused,
ascent begins
up this towering giant
staring me down.
I climb.
Slowly…
Steadily…
with trembling hands,
knowing one slip might result
in my downfall, plummeting
to jagged rocks below.
Labored breathing from thinning air,
afraid the fraying rope will snap
or an avalanche would pulls all down,
collapsing my lungs from worry’s strain.
Strengthened by faith,
taking each foothold
with care and thanksgiving,
I continue on…
Weathering elements
In threadbare clothing,
shivering from coldness
and sheer fright.
I push upward.
Focused on the present goal,
aiming for sunrise
beyond mountain peaks,
my final steps are illuminated.
Peace touches,
rushing in upon reaching the summit.
Looking down
on blisters and scrapes from hanging on,
and barriers overcome,
steady climbing proves
a mountain is never too high
for the determined spirit.
...and I am ready again.
