I wear a sleeping mask
Over these deprived eyes,
A blindfold that keeps
Light from entering
My endlessly dark existence.
I’ve grown accustomed
To this disturbing mentality
That blurs the edges
Of my peripheral perceptions,
Destroying my conscience.
The notion of status quo
Was made up by academia
That warns us to keep
Our eyes closed while
Everything changes day by day.
I screamed from behind
Sealed-shut eyelids:
Wake me from the inside out.
