A reassuring peace created
Amidst unsettling chaos.
The first battle began a year ago
With the sudden ambush
On a soldier hidden in the trenches.
Combat ensued.
The inexperienced and lonely soldier
Surrendered quite easily.
Although, a prisoner of war,
He was convinced that
He would find a way to escape.
But he didn’t know any better;
He didn’t realize how
Advanced the enemy’s strategy was.
With the plan of escape devised,
He made his move, but despite
His attempts, it only ended in bloodshed.
The wounded soldier marched on.
He would be better prepared next time
With the help of his new ally.
The next battle began;
It was all working according to plan
Until the soldier betrayed his ally.
Despite being deceived,
The ally fulfilled his promise
By assisting the soldier to victory.
But winning comes with a price:
Two causalities now coping
With their war scars.
