I’ve seen the path
Sprawled before me,
The one I was destined
To embark on.
It wasn’t as straight-shot
As I once expected,
But one that was
Winding so much so
That I couldn’t see
Beyond the curves.
I abandoned that vision
And instead I
Found myself reveling
In the tangents,
Deviating off course
And absorbing myself
In the roadside scenery
Long enough
To lose sight of my trail
And never look back.
