Last night even though

You weren’t here.



I could almost feel your eyes

Watching me until I found

A comfortable spot to  

Lie my head on you.

I could almost hear your heart

Beating in steady rhythm

When I placed my ear

Against your chest.

I could almost see your smile,

Ever-present and sincere,

As I lifted my head to

Glance back at you.

I could almost feel your hands

Lightly touching my skin,

As I hoped time would

Stop a while for us.

I could almost taste your kisses,

Gentle, as I wondered how

There was nowhere else

I would rather be.
