Fooling Yourself

Folder:
Thoughts on Life

You're fooling yourself

Because I know your

Allegedly tough exterior

Is only paperthin.

I peel away your

Onion-like layers.

Each time I do,

I uncover your weaknesses

And it makes you cry.

No matter how much

You try to cleanse yourself,

Your pungency remains.

You're fooling yourself

Because I know your

Supposed happiness

Is only makeup.

I see past your

Clown-like plastered smile.

Each time I do,

I remove your mask

And it makes you sad.

No matter how much

You try to disguise yourself,

I will always reveal you.

You're fooling yourself

Because I know your

So-called perfection

Is only a bluff.

I can discard your false claims

Like a card player.

Each time I do,

You realize that

I hold the upper hand.

No matter how much

You try to shuffle away your faults,

You only cause yourself papercuts.
