There was a man who grew up in a religious home.
In his church, he was taught he could do anything he wanted
As long as he repented because his God is forgiving.
You can imagine his shock when God took away
His mother without warrant or warning.
He curses God's name and turned to run away.
We see him running.
Why don't we stop him?
He didn't stop running until he reached the local bar
Where he drank away all his pain.
When the alcohol didn't eliminate the pain,
At our church doors, he appeared
And asked God for forgiveness for all he'd done.
While God's heart was filled with sympathy,
Our hearts were shrouded in judgment;
Like a outcast, we rejected him because he would affect us
And we wonder why he rejected us in the first place.
There was a woman who grew up in a fatherless home.
She blamed herself for driving her father away,
While her mother brought home men she thought
Would give her daughter the love she was missing.
Instead, they abused her, and she thought she deserved it.
She wept as she watched herself stumbling over the edge.
We see her falling.
Why don't we catch her?
She didn't stop falling until she landed into
The embrace of drugs that would take away her pain.
When the drugs didn't cure her pain,
She stepped into our church
And fell in shame because of all she'd done.
While God's heart was filled with compassion
Our hearts were clothed in hypocrisy;
Like a leper, we ignored her because she would infect us
And we wonder why she avoided us all this time.
