Prodigal

I deserted Your kingdom and fled towards foreign land

Where I began sinking into this adulterating quick sand.

I recklessly squandered all until I was left empty-handed.

In these barren wastelands, I was famished and stranded.

I distanced myself from You, yet the farther I traveled,

The more I saw as the morals of humanity began to unravel.

Now a world stricken with iniquity is all that remains:

Striving for wealth and afflicted by what they can obtain.

So I ran back to You hoping to receive another chance.

And when I returned, I fell to my knees in repentance.

For I found no substance no matter how far I roamed,

Yet, into Your outstretched arms, I was welcomed home.
