The intensity of life
Dims my necessity for love;
There is so much more
To behold besides
The warmth in your stare,
The feel of your skin.
I do not want to miss anything
Just because I’d rather be
In the ease of your embrace.
What if I lose this time?
Life is so fleeting,
Sometimes cataloged
In a handful of heartbeats.
But I will hold tight to you;
Count the breaths
Escaping from love’s chest
While not disregarding
The ticking clock on the wall.
I will sway to time’s tune,
The melody of the moment.
I will dance to my heart’s song
And never miss a beat
So when age is my partner
I will still hear the music.
