Love knocked but I didn’t answer
He looked much too suspicious to me
Like he intended to cause me harm
So I put my guard up, bolted my door
And hoped you would leave me alone.
I didn’t want this jovial salesperson
Dictating to me that he had the solution
To my problems, the cure to my troubles.
He was sorely mistaken when he thought
That he knew exactly what I needed.
After all, I already had everything I needed
So he skipped along to the next home.
And I watched jealously as his toothy grin
Was passed on to my neighbor who knew
That he had what she was looking for.
