Every moment,
each breath we take is
but another textured tile
added to life’s mosaic.
Colored ceramic pieces
align in a sequence
outlined by the Artist,
developing into
a perfectly-planned pattern.
But we choose which tiles
to hold carefully in place
and which to discard
and also what kind of plaster
we decide to employ.
Grouted by hands
stained from experience,
each piece is affixed
to the canvas- some delicately,
others forcefully.
Crevices are filled
with cemented wisdom
as the Artist wipes clean
excess mortar with expertise.
And at our last breath,
we evaluate the artwork,
determining it was a masterpiece
that could only have been
created by God’s hands.
