On the Radio

Extended Metaphors

Your voice transmits across the airwaves,

reaching those headed toward dead ends.

Providing company for people driving alone,

You give us a reason to keep going.

You are heartbroken when we switch channels,

choosing something we'd rather hear instead.

I turned the radio dial and listened in

to find some meaning amidst the static.

I know You’ve got global coverage,

yet at times I can’t pick up your signal.

I wish I was more in tune with You,

but You may be on a different frequency.
