Cheetah

I won’t talk about a pet, nor the animal itself. Since I remember, I have memory of my grandfather eating oranges. This might sound ordinary for most people. But the truth is that for my family is something really important. My grandfather is an honorable man, always happy, always with that advice that I sometimes need. But, what make him the man he is now? He was born in Allende N.L.; he had no opportunities, no studies and nothing to eat. His father past out at his age of 8 years old, he was the oldest of 6 brothers and sisters. With no one to get the money for the family, he started working on the fields, and as he turned 14 years old, he started driving a truck for delivering fruit. At that time the highways weren’t as we know them now. His normal trip was form Poza Rica, Veracruz to Monterrey, N.L. Almost every driver made 14.5 hours in that road, but my grandfather was known for being the fastest driver in the truck driver’s society. My grandfather made close to 12 hours, and this awarded him with the nickname Cheetah. At that time everybody said he was a mad driver, but the truth is that as fast as he ended the trip, he was able to start another one. And he was 15 years old and he had 7 stomachs to fill, so he had to work hard to help his brothers and sister out. He is my inspiration, because he is the live prof, that to succeed in life, you only need hard work. From being a small boy, poor with a huge responsibility, he became my hero. After 20 years that I’ve the pleasure to share with him, I’ve learned so many things, from how to plant a tree, how to raid a bike, and even to make successful business. Every summer since I become 9 years old, we go to Poza Rica Veracruz to where he has his ranches. They are full of fields with Banana, Orange and Mango. We raid houses and wash cattle. He might not be my father, but he is something more than a father to me.
