PLEASE DON’T TELL MY DAD WE’RE TRIPPING

Gathering of the Vibes was always a fun festival.  The people were always great.  I have to take a moment to reflect on Katrina and her friends.  After setting up camp and relaxing with a beer, you start to meet your neighbors camping near you.  There was an old Deadhead with one of his buddies.  He also brought his daughter and a couple of her friends along.  They were college students and just discovering jam oriented music.

Katrina was a vision although I was way too old.  I can live with my age but I still have eyes and a pulse.  She was wearing a lovely summer dress and skipping and dancing around with her friends.  I felt bad because her dad was a pretty good guy.  I felt guilty because I was thinking, “Dude, your daughter is really hot.”  Of course, she was a lot more interested in the many younger guys roaming around the festival grounds—as well she should be.

I kind of felt like my friends and I were more like protectors to them than anything.  They were having fun and interacting with us freely.  I hope they were old enough to drink since they did pinch a few of our beers.  It was fun clowning around.  I still remember noticing that their behavior was a bit funny.  They were seeing some trails so to speak.  I was looking at them inquisitively.  Out of nowhere, I hear Katrina imploring, “Please don’t tell my Dad that we’re tripping.”
