AND YET IT REMAINS THE SAME

Poesy, as the scholars say

overrated

and underrated

at once

and still a hope

that we cling to

Change—a constant

permeating

each aspect

of my existence

no hope

no chance

lost my Brautigan

can’t figure out

why a smile

has forged itself

on my face

a dreamer

a song

a dance

and yet

it remains the same

The first stanza of this poem

The first stanza of this poem is very shrewd and astute!
