Our records indicate

that you have yet

to pay, in blood,

the debt you owe

and although

the scars are still fresh

we must bleed you some more

A lien shall be placed

on your soul

as mercenary rates accrue

until you are buried

in your own grave

but the remnants

of that old naïve dream

continue to gnaw

persistent in the notion

that things will one day turn

back to where they belong
