HYPHEN IN A DUAL NAME

Hyphen in a dual name

spelled with the alphabetical

mirage of letters splattered

                    on thought

      decadence, narcissism

other stuff not yet found

             not yet lost

Minos was lost in the Aegean Sea

and Prometheus was chained for

                     his sins

            the Occident found its origin

       in these barbaric civilizations

and now we are faced with an evil

thrust upon us by the Gods

pissed off by TV evangelists

and male bashing talk show hosts

          and macho star athletes

        all settling for doing

a commercial or two

and some numbskull runs out

to buy MC Hammer’s favorite soda

or Madonna’s favorite tampon

but everyone is pissed at Roseanne

for not singing the National Anthem

          the right way

but they don’t breathe a word

about Reagan and Bush using

the US Constitution

for toilet paper

and I’m arrested for smoking a joint

peacefully but RJ Reynolds has yet

to stand trial for the deaths of

          300,000 or more a year

And Clemens got 5 Mil a year

so let’s not watch it this year

and I was called a bum

and Willie Nelson was rocked by the IRS

The IRA still dropping bombs

The PLO still dropping bombs

Peace activists setting fires to cars

shouting  “No more violence.”

Yeah, right!

Change yourself and then you can

come back to me and preach

cause I ain’t wanting to listen

              to mamby bamby

              of a hypocrite

but I read some of Jesse Helm’s shit

and some of Swaggart and all these

              other guys

and I get out my map to make sure

I’m still nestled in the United States

                 of America

but the pride is dampened by

measles epidemic of religious frauds

waiting for divine intervention

and Milken goes to jail where he

belongs with buddy Boeski

Havel is president!

Mandela is free!

    some battles we do win

but will Neil Bush fry

in the S & L scandal?

or will Daddy bail him out?

Seems you win some; you lose some

but ultimately there’s always

                next year

                or is there?
