It is good to be concise
and get to the bloody point
Some poets ramble on
They endlessly weave the verse
with no awareness
of logical conclusion or ending
It is the Abe Simpsoning
of poetry as the verse
goes on and on;
hemming and hawing
on various pointless details
It wouldn’t hurt
to have a point
or even get
to a logical conclusion
But the Meanderthal men (and women)
don’t seem to know any better;
lack the discipline
or the sense
Sometimes retiring to your chamber
and crashing for the night
is the right thing to do
and even more often
ending the poem sooner
rather than later
is also the right thing to do
