Steer clear the path

of self righteousness

with the zigzagging lines

of a Koran fading before my eyes

illegible form the slow ascent

              of drunkenness

and while Jesus, Buddha and Allah

all join hands in prayer

the wars go on

the crusades goe on

Christians saying convert or die

Muslims saying convert or die

and Hindus at war with Muslims

and a handful of Catholics killed

              in Ireland

a few (million) Jews gassed in chambers

                 of Auschwitz

Kurds napalmed by their president

And they say (Marx did anyway)

that religion is the opium

               of the people

but I not sure if opium could

truthfully claim to have taken nearly

             as many lives

Jesus speak only about love

and the hypocrites murder in his name

Allah desiring peace but acolytes

still killing all the infidels

Buddha saying to overcome all

        the suffering and pain

but only Gandhi and MLK Jr bothered

                  to listen

In the name of Jesus

In the name of Buddha

In the name of Allah

In the name of Jah

In the name of Brahma

In the name of Zeus

when will we ever learn to love?
