For all the talk

we never get anywhere

and there’s nary

a ghost of a chance

we find the answers

as the monsters and ghosts

terrify and haunt us

in both our dreams and lives

but like the kids on Scooby Doo

we usually end up learning

that the real ghosts and monsters

always have a human face

The malignance and malevolence

occurs entirely within

the shells of human souls

we continually deny even exist
