We had a shed

in the backyard

with a doghouse

for a St. Bernard

There was a Mimosa tree

next to the shed

a young lad with dreams

climbing the mimosa tree

to the roof of the shed

a branch ran just so

I could Tarzan leap

and swing from the branch

to the ground

I thought I was Superman

or Jungle Boy

or my own incarnation

of a superhero

it was my fantasy

my Jawn before Jawn existed

I loved leaping from shed

to tree branch

down to ground

a true superhero

in my own imagination
