11^th grade English class

reading assignment

Penny candy stores beyond

still risking absurdity

but that candy store

harkened old Five and Dimes

stolen candy bars

surrealistic breathless breasts

first entered young consciousness

I spied the young girls

me in favorite flannel shirt

hoping to impress

Youthful fancies dies too soon

Adult pretenses rise too soon
