DANK CAVE

darkness

or dankness

in the damp cave

we seek only light

a lit joint

can provide solace

we pass it

back and forth

hoping for rescue

hoping batteries

in a flashlight will last

long enough

to find an escape route

they warn of bats

and spiders;

my face accidentally

masked in a web

no thoughts of hidden treasure

just a plain desire

to get out of the dank cave

and find the light of day
