Desperation

was a key word

as the show

was completely sold out

scalpers

on the warpath

with outrageous prices

circling the arena

in hopes of miracles

that never seem

to come for me

but it a sudden clap

of thunderous noise

and a burst

of lazy lightning

I spy a side door

popping open

and Carpe Diem

becomes the theme

I coolly blend in

with the rest of the crowd

in the course—

miracles indeed possible
