excitement—

not rising  at all

        words played

   out in spoken language

I licked my lips

      with anticipation

    no response offered

waiting in silence—in vain

      desperately seeking

            some acknowledgement

with none pending

with none listening

        words spoken

     spoken words echoed

           without sincerity

       without faith

    those lips moving

vibration of tongue

           Speech!

ah, an interesting concept

      a means to communicate
