Here comes the biggest sports franchise
in the history of all of baseball
a dynasty that seems to reign
supreme over talent and revenue
a multimillion dollar ballclub
since the Joe Torre era...
yes, I'm talkin' 12 years ago
where a dynasty was built
legends were born
championships were earned
loved my most
hated by many
6 pennants
4 titles in 6 World Series
9 consecutive AL East titles
so you ask what's wrong?
as a Yankee fan, I'm not gonna
throw that,"we got 26 rings, what you got?"
power trip
cuz quite personally, that's meaningless
they have nothing to prove
for they are human
with this losing streak
and critics will attempt to write them off
before the season is out
then when they re-establish an awakening
what do they say?
"I knew they'd come back"
"They always start out like this," etc.
And with all the bad luck, poor pitching,
injuries and an anemic lineup
with a large healthy salary
and although it's still early,
I'm gonna have to push aside the biases
and appreciate the sport
and let them play ball
cuz even the best of the best can
take a fall
no matter how talented you are
We've been spoiled this long
that we forgot how it was to take losses
minus the playoffs
but from a realistic standpoint
they'll fight it out
and be the team that they're known for
there's a lot of baseball left
and I'll stay routin for them
cuz that's what a devoted fan does
Enjoy the sport.
