i wish i could

write you poetry



not the meandering desire

that filters through

weather and flowers



but the words that

change thoughts



to roll you into my arms

like the stuff that cabbage

is made of



in lieu of poetry

here is a poem

a simple string

of words



that might not lasso

your thoughts



or twist your tongue into

balloon shaped kiss



but it is a poem

that lets you know how
