One night of peculiar slumber
I woke to thunder,
Then fell back asleep when
A cat crept into my dream
And brought a wolf, still alive, to eat
As he settled down to his take
I moved away, still not awake.
The beautiful cat
Walked through the grass
Looking like nothing we know.
A small autumn breeze
Covers with ease
The stolen scent of the snow
I sound like leaves.
I walk with water
I draw and paint
The animals, my brothers,
I must eat, as you do, too.
You are among my friends,
Though not one.
