I’m beginning to think

that taking her to

a Frank Zappa concert

on Valentine’s day

wasn’t such a keen idea

Black roses wouldn’t do

I knew that then

I still know that now

It just seems like humor

is a lost art

and everyone is too obsessed

with imposed images

of what should be

Indian cuisine buffet style
probably isn’t gonna

cut the mustard

I’m guilty of not sharing

neurotic delusions

and I won’t let the PTA

or a card company

tell me how I should think

I do pay a heavy price

at times but at least

I get to keep my soul.
