Riding to the show

and having a chat

about cold medicines

suffering bronchial issues

& coughing up a storm

and hearing all

the standard suggestions

I hear kudos

for Aleve and Motrin

& a few other painkillers

I’d rather hustle

some Percocet’s
but that’s another story

discussing which

cough medicines

and which antacids

and what’ll best
reduce a flu or fever

Truly sad, 

how the mighty have fallen

It’s one more sign

of getting old:

talking about 

over the counter medicine

instead of 

the kick ass Thai sticks

you recently copped.

A Hall’s cough drop

I try to suppress

the illness and the thoughts

although I’m certainly 

certain which is which

and what it is

I should be suppressing
