I’ve already abolished
Abandoned all the lines
that bind members
of this society
no longer can I see
the rules they follow
I can’t read the print
my ears can’t decipher
the spoken words
fluttering in elusive air
I do not fit neatly
into any of their receptors
I am the cast outsider
I sit in the wings
I wade in eternal sun;
The prancing fancy guns
take aim and fire at me;
the bullets pierce my flesh
but I live
but I live to go on
to continue this assault
on modern blindness
of a society that doesn’t listen
to its bleeding, dying children.
