Unfinished Poems

An eerie silence permeates the air

     On this early, black morning

The call of a night bird pierces the

Darkness, echoing off trees and homes alike

Silence before a great storm is always deathly

Snuffing out all but one defiant lifeforms cries

Lightning followed by a boom of thunder

     Interrupts the whole process

The storm sets in quickly, making its immediate

Presence known by its show of lights and chorus of claps

A pitter-patter of rain begins to fall

Followed by a gusty onslaught of wind

The light rain subsides for a moment

And once again silence is king

Suddenly the storm exerts its full force of power

As a streak of lightning shouts down upon the earth

Once again the thunder booms, its mighty roar

Shaking the sleeping homes to their foundations

Immediately, a sudden gust of wind unleashes the watery hell

As its slanted downpour soaks all it touches

In the distance, a tree is split by the impact

Of lightning, its Spring branches strewn about the field

A mighty wind hurtles the fragments against

A lonely fence, sending it shattered to the ground

Chaos awakes a slumbering child, who runs to

The window and pushes his face to the glass

Another flash of lightning reveals the rain

Falling in sheets over the untainted neighborhood
